Hey Naptown guys and girls just a reminder about some upcoming Sup races that we plan to attend and hope you can as well!!!
April 23rd: Washington DC race (great warm up for the Carolina Cup)
Kumu'ohu Challenge is now online at www.washingtoncanoeclub.org/Racing/Kumuohu and they will be having a class for SUP again this year. The current plan is for the SUP course to be about 5 1/2 miles (9 km) with all the SUPs starting at 9:00.
April 30th: Carolina Cup Wrightsville beach, NC
This is the mack daddy of sup races on the east coast! If you ever wanted to go to a race that has a huge variety of people from big time Pro's (Chuck Patterson, Byron Kurt, Ej Johnson, Chris Hill, etc) to just people who are out to have a good time, this is the one to go to. They have a 12 mile open ocean race, a 6 mile inter-coastal race, and a 3.5 mile recreation race. I signed up for the 6 mile race myself and I am far from being in good paddling shape so don't let a lack of water time keep you from coming. After heading down there in January for the cold stroke I can tell you it is a blast, cool ass town and a lot of fun people plus a big party afterward. The event is being coordinated by local Severna Park Alum John Beausang at www.distressedmullet.com . Let us know if your interested and want to ride with us. Here are the details http://www.wbpaddleclub.com/2011_Carolina_Cup/Home.html
June 4th: Kent Island Outrigger and Canoes Sup race. Kent Island, MD
This is another fun race put on by Neil and the guys. They usually have a 7 mile course and a 3.5 mile course that you can chose from and a nice cookout after. This a fun local event that we have done the last 2 years so come on out!

July 30th: Stand Up Paddle Annapolis's 2nd Annual sup race
This is going to be our second race, it was the biggest sup race in MD last year and we expect it to be bigger this year. We are still ironing out the details but we will have a few different distances and all sorts of cool prizes. If you know any sponsors that would be interested pass them my way. Web and flyer's to come soon
August 20th: Paddle for humanity race in Washington, DC
This is another local race for a good cause. WPA sponsored and they have 2 different distances

Oct 8th: Sandbridge Hei Hei. Sandbridge, Va
This is another drivable race that is being put on by Bill and Anne Gasset (aka East Coast SUP couple of the year), so you know its going to be a LOT OF FUN. This is going to be a battle of the paddle style race through the surf, GONNA BE AWESOME. As it gets closer we will figure out logistics
Hope everybody is ready for a great summer of paddling, two years ago there were very few races within driving distance now look what we have. Gotta take advantage of it, getting pumped. Want to see a lot of orange and white sup Annapolis shirts on the water, see everybody on the water!
PS: 6am Friday morning group paddles will resume in a few weeks when we get light back
