OC RACE RECAP

Dawn from OC Sup & Fitness put on another awesome event!! She has the best shwag bags and prizes out of any races on the East Coast by far and one of the coolest venues. She also has WIND haha, it was probably the hardest race we have had in the Mid Atlantic in a long time. Wind was howling at a steady 20mph with gusts up to 30mph, the race started with a wicked side chop in 2 ft of water that felt like 10 miles. Then you got a little breather with a nice downwind section, then bam another side chop fight around a 3rd turn haha. For those of us with super narrow race boards it was HUMBLING, BRUTAL, and not a fun day hahaha for those guys who had nice wide boards it was an awesome race for them to capitalize and put up a good showing. Oc's Ron G took the men's 14' 5 mile by a good amount which is no surprise (Ron is a beast), Naptown local Goose had a hell of a race and took 3rd place and Neil was right behind him on his Infinity for 4th beating some really fast paddlers. In the 12'6 class Chris Sperry took another 1st place finish on his Infinity, Chris is racking up the wins this year in the 12'6 division, pretty soon he is gonna need another shelf for trophy's haha. Brian Barton took 3rd in the short course 12'6 as well. After the main race there was an awesome kids race, Dawn has the best kids race around, everyone is on the same boards and she even had kid paddles for them to use. It was cool to see how many kids actually participated, the future of the sport looks bright. Great race, Great venue, brutal conditions but worth the drive for sure. If you missed this one make sure you make it down in August!!
