Stolen Board Alert!!! Jessica's board was stolen off of her dock in Blackwalnut creek just off the Bay in Annapolis. If you know anything or see/hear anything let us know. Here is a picture of what it looks like.
Its sad to say but with the the rise in popularity of the sport this seems to be happening more and more. Take steps so that this doesn't happen to you.
It's best to never let your board out of your site until its put away but that isnt always possible. If somebody really want's your board bad enough and they plan it out most locks won't help, but most stolen boards are crimes of opportunity. Simple dock locks/straplocks/or thule sup taxis will help as most thieves do not walk around with wire cutters (or at least I hope not) and this will prevent a lot of "opportunity thefts".
Also here are some other tips to prevent theft:
- Do not leave your board outside in the open unlocked
- Do not leave your board on top of your car if you can't see it. (even a quick trip to the grocery store on your way home can be enough time for some punk to take it)
- Use some sort of locking system
- write down your serial # on your board or mark it somehow so you know its yours
IF IT DOES GET STOLEN
- Call local pawn shops and check craiglist (most thieves are idiots and will want to try and pawn/sell it asap and won't take the time to drive to far)
Its sad that we even have to worry about this but in today's world it can happen anytime so just keep that in mind.
